Beginner 1 Recurve - Saturday 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Target Audience:
- New Archers with minimal or no experience
- Must be at least 12 years of age and able to draw back a 10-lb recurve bow until the string touches their nose
Learning Objectives:
- Class Participants can expect:
- To learn about range safety and etiquette
- To learn the basic elements of shooting form
- To learn how to use and adjust a sight
- Score using a 10-ring target face and progress through the Can-Bow levels
- Introduction to compound bows
5-week session - Maximum 16 archers per session

$220.00 + HST per session for non-members. All participants for Beginner 1 will receive an individual finger tab to keep.

Beginner 2 Recurve - Saturday 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Target Audience:
- Archers with previous experience - either through the Beginner 1 class or a recommendation from one of the Archers of Caledon Coaches.
- Archers who have completed the Beginner 1 class and achieved the Can-Bow score necessary (160 at 10m) to shoot from the 15m line

- Class Participants can expect:
- To learn about shot sequences
- To develop and refine their own shot sequence
- Receive individual, tailored guidance on their form
- Continue to progress through the Can-Bow levels
5-week session - Maximum 12 archers per session

Beginner 2 OPEN - Sunday 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Target Audience:
- Archers who want to learn other bow types like Compound, Barebow, Horsebow and associated archery technique
- Families with members using mixed bow types like Recurve and Compound who want to learn together
- Archers who are unable to attend lessons on Saturdays
- Archers with previous experience - either through the Beginner 1 class or a recommendation from one of the Archers of Caledon Coaches.
- Archers who have completed the Beginner 1 class and achieved the Can-Bow score necessary (160 at 10m) to shoot from the 15m line

Target Audience:
- For Archers with previous experience - Recommendation from one of the Archers of Caledon Coaches or who have completed Beginner 2
- Participants must have scored 200+ at 18m and must have their own equipment
8-week commitment with ONE specific coach - max 3 participants.
Time of sessions to be arranged by the coach and participants
Format
Four instructional sessions run bi-weekly. The expectation is that the coach has a curriculum they can publish and will assign specific tasks to each participant at each session, based on the needs of that participant. The participant has 2 weeks to work on the assigned task before seeing the coach again.
Arranged with an instructor from the Archers of Caledon Coaching Team with NCCP certification of Instructor Intermediate or higher.

Introduction to Tournaments
Target Audience:
- Archers who have completed the Beginner 2 class and are shooting at 18m.
- Archers wanting to improve as archers and take their skills to the next level under the supervision of experienced Coaches.
- Archers with their own equipment (bow, limbs, string, stringer, plunger, quiver, bow stand and a minimum of 6 arrows).
- Archers who are no younger than 12 years of age.
- Archers who are comfortable outside in all weather conditions (sun, wind, rain, etc.) Class curriculum will include how to deal with environmental factors.
- Archers who can bring the following to every class and the tournament: all of their archery equipment, a hat, a filled water bottle, a snack and a small notebook and pen.
4-week commitment (3 instructional and the tournament) with experienced coaches
Format
Participants can expect to:
- practice at least once per week after each lesson.
- commit to 4 weeks (3 instructional and the tournament)
- be set up and ready to shoot at 2pm on Saturdays and 6pm on Thursdays.
- learn basic equipment needs and the differences between shooting indoors and shooting outdoors.
- learn how to score in a small group with multiple scorecards (known as double-card scoring).
- prepare for an outdoor event in a variety of weather conditions.
- have 3 classes during which they will determine sight points for the tournament distances, how to adapt shooting for wind and rain, how to avoid heat exhaustion/heat stroke, and learn tournament scoring.
- experience a round developed by Archery Canada for beginning archers using basic equipment. This is known as the T2S round (Train to Shoot) and is a non-competitive round, no records are kept. The archer's goal is to learn and improve.
Parents or guardians of youth participants under the age of 18 are required to stay at the club for the duration of the lesson and the tournament, bring a folding chair. As this is an outdoor course, all participants are encouraged to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Water and sunscreen are essential.
This class has limited availability (May – September). Max 12 participants.
Cost: $180 + HST. Pre-registration is required.
Target Audience:
- For archers who have prior experience and have completed the Intermediate course
- Archers must have shot a minimum score of 225 at 18m on the appropriate target face
- For those who practice on a regular basis, outside of the scheduled program sessions.
Summary:
This is a 4 week program with one coaching session per week and you are expected to practice 1-2 times a week on your own.
Time: Saturdays 9 am-12 pm
Class size: Max 8 archers
All archers must be members of Archers of Caledon
Format
- The program's focus is to prepare archers for competition at the provincial and national levels, honing the skills and techniques necessary to perform at these events and developing the desire and drive to improve and strive for excellence.
- For archers where the age category and performance level is appropriate, the program intends to prepare the archer to make the leap to the National Next Gen (Junior) or National Team (Senior) programs.
- The weekly sessions will be focused on technical skills development, equipment maintenance & tuning, and competition simulations/drills.
Parents or guardians of youth participants under the age of 18 are required to stay within the eyesight of their child for the duration of the lesson.
This is an Outdoor program that runs from May to September.
Cost: $240 + HST for members. Pre-registration is required.
Target Audience:
- For Archers of varying experience, beginner, intermediate or advanced
- Participants must have their own equipment or discuss their equipment needs with a coach
- For participants who prefer small groups or individual instruction
- For 2-4 family members who want to learn together
- For participants who cannot attend the Saturday group classes
Format
- Participants may arrange 1-5 lessons with a coach who will tailor the sessions based on their level of experience. If you are a Beginner and cannot attend the Saturday group class, your coach may use that same curriculum for your lessons.
